I had very traumatising experiences with English all throughout my life. My English was so weak that I simply could not speak English. Like others, I would not speak when the conversation is in English, and I would avoid people. Other than that, I would not answer my office phone when it rings. People always call me because my name is in the directory. People call my office phone from all over the world. If I do pick up the phone and the person is questioning in English, I would immediately hang up.
But after joining EWA, I went for an interview programme. The interview programme was conducted in English. The funny thing is that, as I was talking and presenting (in English), the interviewer had to ask me to stop and give chance to others to talk because I was talking so much! Hahaha.
Moreover, now I don’t ignore phonecalls anymore and would gladly reply to foreigners’ questions. I want to add that joining this programme is worth it. It helps you with both English language and with life motivation in general. It’s like killing two birds with one stone!
